The Nagyvary String Quartet Debuts with Beethoven CD

The Nagyvary Quartet

The Quartet was established in 2005 by four former students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, of whom three are also members of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Ochestra. In April 2006 the Quartet won the first prize of the Leo Weiner String Quartet Competition in Budapest, and shortly thereafter it adopted its permanent name. Since then The Nagyvary Quartet has performed regularly at various chamber music festivals organized and sponsored by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and in the Hungarian Radio and Television. Individually, the members have also participated in several European festival programs.

Members of the Quartet:

Daniel PAPP - 1st violin, Eva DULFALVY - 2nd violin
Reka SZABO - viola,  Gyorgy DEAK, cello

Their first CD was released in Budapest by TomTom Records (www.tomtom.hu) in Aug. 2009. In the USA, it is distributed by Nagyvary Violins

The program is by Ludwig van Beethoven:
I. String Quartet No. 4 in C minor, op. 18. II. String Quintet No. 1 in C major, op.29.

Note. The Nagyvary Quartet is an independent artistic entity that is not connected to or sponsored by Nagyvary Violins. The members themselves elected to use the name of Dr. Nagyvary who donated several instruments to the music school of his hometown 15 years ago. Mr. Papp still performs on his Nagyvary-Chen violin made in 1991. Ms. Dulfalvy plays a Nagyvary violin made in 2005.
